HISTORY

The Joint Manning Group (JMG) is an umbrella organization of independent, well-established and long standing maritime and manning associations in the country namely:

Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment, Inc. (FAME)  It represents about 30% of the 395 manning agencies accredited by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and is committed to ensure high management standards and business ethics.

Filipino Shipowners’ Association (FSA) It is composed of 19 shipping companies that own, manage, operate and/or charter Philippine flag ships for overseas trade, and is committed to the development of the Philippine overseas shipping industry.

International Maritime Association of the Philippines (INTERMAP)  It is an association of shipping companies engaged in chartering ocean-going vessels registered under the Philippine Flag under the supervision of the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA). It was created to assist and enhance the development and balanced growth of the maritime industry, and establishing global competitiveness of vessels under the Philippine registry.

Philippine Association of Manning Agencies and Shipmanagers Inc. (PAMAS)  It is an association of companies engaged in the business of manning and management of foreign-owned ocean going vessels, and is committed towards the promotion and welfare of our crew-supplying industry.

Philippine-Japan Manning Consultative Council (PJMCC) It is a non-stock, nonprofit organization that focuses on the maritime and seafaring industry both in the Philippines and in Japan, especially those concerning Filipino seafarers’ welfare and their training to improve their skills and competencies.

JMG’s purpose is to jointly and continuously push for the development of our manning and shipping industry with a total membership of close to three hundred (300) manning agencies.

JMG was formally created through a Memorandum of Agreement executed by incumbent Presidents of FAME, FSA, INTERMAP, PAMAS, PJMCC and COMMA on September 17, 2008.

JMG represents the maritime and manning industry that brings in more than SIX BILLION US DOLLARS (US$6B) in foreign exchange earnings and provides employment to over 500,000 Filipino seafarers including related trades and businesses.

JMG is a catalyst for growth for the industry and for the advancement of the ideals and interest of its membership.
